– Week 3 – Preparation & Communication

Prepare for success, make sure you reach your customers in the right way on your terms. Make sure your digital presence is sound. A great website is an absolute must, stay well clear of anything flash based, a good starting poing is a Word press design theme + SEO plugin (Search Engine optimization) like Yoast.

Before you throw yourself into the murky world of SEO try your hand at Google Adwords – Begin with a Pay per Click campaign, analyse your campaigns, tweak and go again. Facebook advertising & Instagram are other tried and tested avenues, they work if you put the work in! Don’t be stupid and turn down free advertising, wedding blogs & Directories such as Rock My Wedding, Love my Dress, Hitched etc are great free resources, put the hours in and you will reap the rewards. Wedding Fairs & Wedding venues: Both paid advertising and images in exchange for publicity are options worth exploring.

Ok, they have found you, you have booked the job, no what? The next logical step is  a site visit – Make sure you are prepared, do a thorough recognisance of the wedding venue and the surrounding areas and plan the B&G portraits and the group photos. Backup locations in case of bad weather and a designated person on both the groom and brides side of the family should be on hand to help with the organization on the day. Make sure you have the running order – Timings & important details of the day, list of group photos, addresses, starting times and make whatever you do make sure to clean & charge your equipment and plan your travel!
